It started in 2012, when Tymber COO Kyle, started a cannabis delivery service in San Diego with his partner Meghan. They ran their store exclusively through the Weedmaps marketplace.
But soon enough, Kyle realized that the customers he found there were more loyal to the marketplace than the individual retailers. Retailers were interchangeable.
He knew that if he wanted to sustainably grow revenue, he couldn't rely on odd sales. He needed to make his brand memorable.
He teamed up with Scott, who shared his interest in web design and digital marketing, and launched an independent ecommerce website.
This was a game-changer.
They realized that they were able to predictably drive traffic, develop brand recognition, build sustainable sources of lead generation, and nurture customer loyalty.
All because they refused to settle for aggregated marketplaces.
